Yearly the municipality of Den Hague organizes a competition for new concepts in the area of the Haaglanden. In 2008 the theme of this competition was the intensifying of transportation areas. The concept is situated at the Pijnacker-Zuid station; along the highspeed Randstadrail (metro). By using the potential of reach-ability and the expanding dwelling area, the concept of a densified area was born. The station could be the centre of this area and is floating under the railway to connect the bordered areas and create a new hotspot. A layered block with a library and dwellings is placed on the main square to expand a diversity of use.
